The term ‘digital’ is very vast. It brings the whole world into our palms. Be it any industry these days , ‘digital’ is a must prefix. Be it ‘digital ‘ marketing , ‘digital’ consultancy, ‘digital’ shopping, these developments improve and personalize the services that we use.

Surely digital is an impeccable update in our lives ,right ?

We’re so obsessed with any digital medium that sometimes it’s a bit overwhelming. It portrays a world that’s a bit aside of reality and we dwell in it. From toons playing different games to teens involving in various social media apps, these plethora of options can cause serious problems if not regulated .

That’s where the magical term ‘digital detox’ comes in !

‘Detox’ such a fancy word right ?

Honestly we do so much to flush out all the toxins in the body by working out and having varous drinks . Similarly ‘digital detox’ is meant to just aid for the clarity of mind .

Digital detox means just refraining from using the gadgets for a brief period of time. Such a bittersweet task right ? But think this as an investment for a clear mind and a healthy body . Ideally its good to do once a week , to improve the productivity and de-stress yourself.

Or you can keep a check of your screentime and reduce gradually .

But why?

Dopamine is a neurotransmitter that secretes your brain . Studies tell that things like ‘getting a like’ in social media produces dopamine such that it makes us hooked to it . It makes technology control over us. And this make us forget the reality and live in the fantasy world of internet. Eventually you’d burn out and stress yourself . It may lead to addictions, depriving sleep quality, hormonal imbalances or even conditons like ADHD. It’s therefore mandatory to have a digital detox atleast in small measures.

What to do during digital detox?

1. Sleep : Have a great sleep . Switch off those goddamn gadgets and sleep . You’d feel calm and it rejuvenates you .

2. Read books: Yes take it as a challenge and complete as many books as you can .

3. Journal or doodle: Honestly these things can make most of your time. Write or draw or do some craft .

4. Spend time with nature : Look up the sky, listen to those beautiful rumblings of leaves, and meditate. You’d never trade anything for these experiences .

5. Family time: Honestly , it must’ve been ages where you’d been sitting all together for a family lunch . Do that , cherish your old funny memories and chill.

6. Go out: Shopping , Hiking , trekking whatever it is ! Use the outdoors.

There are a lots of benefits in doing this . Lets see whats that

· You’d sink in the reality and know what’s right and what’s wrong .

These days gadgets eat our brains and honestly we’d judge things wrongly being in the fantasy world of social media.

· You’d come in terms accepting that you’re living a blessed life.

Social media portrays the happy world, and suddenly we tend to feel sad of our chocices and constantly under comparison with others .

A story, a post , a whatsapp status can’t judge whom you are . Not everytime things need to go good. It’s okay.

· We’d save our body and eyes from those harmful radiations.

Too much is too harm

Yes. There’s so much radiations emmited in these gadgets that increases the body temperature and our body needs some rest. So this might help.

· Digital detox is a must for Teens and toddlers as their age is meant to shape their lives.

Not just sit idle and play games all day long . Send them to classes like yoga, dance or music. Allow them to play outside with their friends. Let them get drenched in rains. Allow them to enjoy themselves in childhood .

· It makes you find the simplest pleasure in your lives. For example, you may seem the flowers in your garden more beautiful, having a hot chai when it rains may seem heavenly, having a casual chat over a coffee might be magical. You’d surely regret for missing out these things all the days.

· You’d surely move your body if you’re away from gadgets atleast to pass the time.

You may look at your messy home and clean, you might go for a jog, you might go for a stroll or cycle to nearby shop! Obviously you’d be burning calories than before.

· You’d be forced to have a conversation with people.

Vibe with your tribe !

Yes. You wont be texting , you wont be under video calls. You’d meet real people , speak with them and develop a good rapport with them . Developing interpersonal skills is so important these days .

The benefits are endless as we go o listing but think! Spending one day away from these gadgets for magical moments is definitely worth it ! Try going for this , attend only urgent calls and leave away from those gadgets .
